VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At St Ann’s we are a Christ centred community, called to be who we are dreamed to be, contributing to a more just and caring world. Our school is built on the Lands of the Ugarapul, Jagera and Yuggera people under the shadow of Nugum (White Rock). Each day we respect the dignity and acknowledge the ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the enduring custodians of their respective nations.

We are committed to answering the need for reconciliation by operating in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples. In living out God's dream through faith, hope, love, and courage we will:

  • Welcome the challenges of Reconciliation as we learn from the past, learn from our local First Nations leaders to build a more just and collaborative future.
  • Nurture a culturally safe inclusive and welcoming environment to provide further opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives and voices to be heard.
  • Build a school who openly displays a connection to First Nations people through words, actions, and symbols throughout the school.
  • Grow community partnerships and relationships with local First Nations People, while maintaining a deep sense of identity and a place of belonging.

Through deepening an understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, voices, and perspectives throughout the curriculum and the cultural life of the school community, we are committed to furthering reconciliation and actively valuing the wisdom and experience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
