Our vision for reconciliation is to develop our knowledge, understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, histories, cultures and languages. As a new College, we will support reconciliation within our school and in the wider community through including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our ongoing practices and reflections.
Our school culture draws on the values of Hope, Wisdom and Compassion and our vision for reconciliation aligns deeply with these values. It calls us to nurture a school culture that promotes engagement with and the building of stronger connections and relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Communities. We will provide our students with opportunities to engage in creative and critical ways to deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
In our school community we:
Acknowledge and recognise the heritage and cultural values of the First Nations peoples.
We envision a place of teaching and learning that is culturally inclusive, where diversity is acknowledged, success is fostered and genuine conversations about creating ongoing equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples occurs.
We commit to incorporating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout the curriculum and pastoral care programs and encourage educational opportunities to consult First Nations communities, Elders and Traditional Custodians.
We recognise our shared past and commit to working towards a shared future where all people are treated with dignity and respect.
