As positive role models for reconciliation, the Peak Sports and Learning staff, children and families continue to learn from and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, particularly the Dharawal people within the local community. Actively engaging with reconciliation is an important part of our program. Respect and developing positive relationships with the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are the core concepts of reconciliation.
Our focus is on moving forward as a community, united and working together to build a better Australia for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and all Australians.
As a center, we continue to strengthen our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' histories and traditions as we commit to working toward a culturally safe and equitable place for all people. We strive to provide a welcoming environment for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and to value their ways of knowing and being.
Our center program continues to respectfully embed activities based on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives and pedagogies. Allowing children to engage in experiences, helping them expand their knowledge of, and engagement in, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories, perspectives and contributions.
