At Explorers Early Learning Nunawading, we are committed to reconciliation and to deepening our knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples and cultures. We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the Land on which our centre stands, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and we pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.
We envision a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised, respected, and valued as the First Nations peoples of Australia. As a learning community, we are committed to continually listening, learning, and reflecting on the stories, true histories, and perspectives of First Nations peoples. We will continue to work respectfully alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community to ensure there are opportunities we understand how to respectfully share these learnings with our Explorers community to foster greater understanding and knowledge about reconciliation.
To us, reconciliation means building meaningful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians. We are dedicated to strengthening and maintaining respectful and genuine partnerships with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Through our inclusive early childhood programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with children, educators, and families, we will continue to thoughtfully and respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives into our practice.
We believe that developing a deeper understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures enriches our appreciation of Australias cultural heritage and contributes to the journey of reconciliation. This understanding is essential to the growth and maturity of Australia as a nation and plays a vital role in shaping a shared and inclusive Australian identity.
