Reconciliation for our whānau here at Kiwi Kids Education and Care is the process of developing, understanding, and trusting relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples. It involves acknowledging past actions, taking responsibility, being accountable, and working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community, which will be based on mutual respect. It is our vision for educators, children, families and the wider community at Kiwi Kids to meaningfully acknowledge the importance of reconciliation. We strive to foster a learning community that understands how to take action towards reconciliation by building stronger, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, based on honesty, empathy and a commitment to positive change.
