Our vision is that every Rosny College student who identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander is proud to be who they are.
Our vision is for Rosny College to be a place that is culturally diverse and culturally inclusive, to be a place that not only inspires young Indigenous people to be strong and proud, but also inspires non-Aboriginal people to learn about and celebrate the culture of Tasmanian First Nations people with Tasmanian First Nations people.
Our vision is that Rosny College staff seek to learn from Tasmanian Aboriginal people, that they encourage young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to live their culture and work to include Aboriginal knowledge and cultural perspectives at the heart of what we do. Our vision is to work together with the Tasmanian Aboriginal community for mutual benefit.
Our vision is that Rosny College staff understand the truth about invasion. That they understand the actions the first colonists and the early governments took to eliminate Tasmanian Aboriginal peoples. That they understand that the policies enacted by successive Australian and Tasmanian governments have continued to cause enormous trauma to the surviving ancestors and have created the huge gaps in every measurable outcome from health and education, to incarceration and life expectancy. Our vision is we take collective responsibility to close those gaps, and have equality of outcomes at Rosny College.
Our vision is to inspire other schools and institutions to do better.
Our vision is inspired by Makarrata (Uluru Statement from the Heart) when it speaks of the future of Aboriginal people - "when we have power over our destiny our children will flourish. They will walk in two worlds and their culture will be a gift to their country."
