We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Land that we live, work and play on, and value the rights of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our vision is to strengthen our staff, children and the wider community’s awareness and knowledge of the world’s oldest living culture and to work towards reconciliation for future generations. As providers of early years education, Moreland Community Child Care Centre’s (MCCCC) can help to shape young minds to prepare them for the world we live in.
Reconciliation at MCCCC is about positively engaging our community to acknowledge and engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures. We will respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives throughout our day-to-day learning practices. We will raise the level of cultural awareness of our staff, and we will provide a welcoming environment that embraces inclusivity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.
As a centre, our path to reconciliation is through respect for the histories and cultures of Australia’s First Nations People. We will build meaningful partnerships with the Koorie community so that we can enhance our learning of local Aboriginal culture, support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and staff and embrace every opportunity to enhance the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children, so every child can grow up strong, happy and healthy.
