VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Market Street Community Child Care is committed to continue learning about the educational practices, cultures, and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We promise to learn about this country's true histories with respect, honesty and responsibility. We know we cannot fully understand the complexities and spiritual understandings of the First Peoples of Australia. We acknowledge that we must respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives within our programs.      Our practice will honour and respect the principles of equity, equality, generosity, empathy and communication. We respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples histories, cultures and rights, and recognise we can contribute to a national identity which supports national unity and reconciliation. We will ensure that there is a positive two-way relationship between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians in our community that is built on trust and respect. All decisions are made with this in mind, whether operational or when developing our educational program. We will provide opportunities for children, educators and families to deepen their understanding about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples connections to Country.
