Helensvale Play and Learn is committed to nurturing a culturally safe, inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories and perspectives are respected and embedded in everyday practice.
Located on the Lands of the Yugambeh Language Region, we strive to honour ongoing connections to Country by building and maintaining genuine relationships with First Nations Elders and communities, and by embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples ways of knowing, being and doing into our learning environment.
Through daily practice, we respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in play, sustainability, and place-based learning, while supporting educators to engage in ongoing reflection and growth. We are committed to creating a strong sense of belonging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and staff, ensuring their identities are seen, valued and respected.
In doing so, we aim to support all children to grow with respect, understanding and a deep connection to Country, contributing to a more equitable and reconciled future.
