We at Explorers Early Learning Tarneit are committed to reconciliation as well as, increasing our collective awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and The Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures.
We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the Land, the people of the Kulin Nation, on which our centre is built. We envision a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and celebrated as being the First Nations people in Australia. We continue to learn their stories, wisdom, traditions, and cultures, and respectfully share this knowledge and stories with our Explorers community. We achieve this through our inclusive early childhood programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with our children, educators, and families. We are open to new ideas and concepts and encourage critical reflection of our own teaching practices.
We seek advice and knowledge from Elders and their community who may choose to share their knowledge and teach us about their cultural heritages, customs and traditional ways. We will also research and intentionally seek out answers to our questions. We will embrace reconciliation and the traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with respect, open hearts and inclusive minds.
A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and The Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures develops an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage leads to reconciliation. This is essential to the maturity of Australia as a nation and fundamental to the development of a unified Australian identity.
