VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Condon Kids ELC's vison for reconciliation reflects a shared partnership between children, families, educators and the local community; where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, languages, cultures and ways of knowing are respected and valued every day.

We actively support reconciliation as a path to healing. We endeavour to nurture a community which acknowledges and understands the injustices and impacts faced by First Nations peoples since European colonisation. As a team of educators, in consultation with community Elders, we are committed to questioning, researching and challenging our knowledge to support reconciliation. We believe through actively listening to each other and engaging in dialogue, we can ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices are heard, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage is sustained for future generations. Our centre policies, practices and pedagogy will continue to be reflective of this shared vison for a united Australia.

In collaboration with community Elders, we strive to respectfully embed cultural perspectives into all areas of our service, to ensure authentic connections and maintaining strong relationships. We recognise the right of all children to develop a positive self-identity. We understand the unique responsibility we have as a community of educators to ensure that future generations are informed and empowered, as we move towards a reconciled Australia.

Our service will continue to be authentic in its offering of meaningful opportunities for children to experience and learn from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives to ensure that a positive and inclusive message is supported. We support children in developing the ability to see the world through multiple perspectives, building a culture of mutual respect.

Our centre envisions an inclusive society, embracing and celebrating the cultural diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and creating a harmonious future.
