At The Learning Sanctuary Tarragindi, we foster respect and deepen our understanding of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in our community, particularly the Yuggera and Turrbal peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the Land which we gather, learn, and play on. Alongside that, we would also like to continue to learn how we can better pay our respects to the Elders past, present, and emerging.
We will to continue to actively build on our understanding and meaningful engagement with reconciliation and inclusive practices by growing our acknowledging the diverse cultural backgrounds of the team, children, families, and the wider community. To achieve this, we will increase our knowledge of reconciliation by reflecting on our current understanding and how we can embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being, and doing into our program and environment. Through our reconciliation action plan, we hope to develop authentic practices which we can use to deepen play experiences and intentional teaching opportunities with children.
We will continue to work in partnerships with families, We understand that we do not enrol an individual child; we enrol an entire family that sits within a unique community of the Tarragindi area, and it is through our relationship with this community, that we invite everyone to be part of our service’s reconciliation journey.
