Our vision for reconciliation is for a community that continually grows in our acknowledgment, respect, understanding and learnings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We will begin our reconciliation journey by valuing the local Gunditjmara people, culture and history in the Shire, embracing the belonging and engagement of these cultures in our community today. We would like to see practices guiding reconciliation that are authentically embedded through intentional teaching within our service that is engaging to Educators, children, families and future generations. We will celebrate respectfully and by acknowledgment the importance of histories, knowledge and cultures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Karreeta Peeneeyt Mara Portland Child and Family Complex will strive to ensure that we create a culturally safe environment where all people feel a sense of belonging and inclusion. A community inspired by 'Who we were, who we are and who we can be’. (Noel Pearson)
