At Port Elliot Kindergarten, our vision for reconciliation is to create a learning environment which actively acknowledges and values Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and where reconciliation is respected and celebrated. With open hearts and minds, we will continue to develop authentic, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community.
We acknowledge that we are situated on Ramindjeri Land of the Ngarrindjeri Nation and we are committed to having a culturally inclusive environment that celebrates First Nations peoples and cultures. Through sustained, respectful engagement with staff, students and community members, we will promote reconciliation by learning about the heritages, true histories and current realities of our shared nation.
We recognise the importance of children learning about the true histories and cultures of Australia’s First Peoples, to form a society that respects diversity and celebrates relationships, unity and connectedness and in to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives are firmly and respectfully included in all areas of the curriculum.
This Reconciliation Action Plan is an ongoing commitment to cultivating and embedding respect for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures, languages and histories and to establishing culturally appropriate practices at our Kindergarten and in the wider community.
