VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Port Elliot Kindergarten, our vision for reconciliation is to create and maintain a learning environment which actively acknowledges and respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and where reconciliation is respected and celebrated. With open hearts and minds, we will continue to develop authentic, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our community.   We acknowledge that we are situated on Ramindjeri Land of the Ngarrindjeri Nation, and we are committed to having a culturally responsive environment that actively engages with First Nations peoples and cultures. Through sustained, respectful engagement with staff, students, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, we will promote reconciliation by learning about the heritages, true histories, and current realities of our shared nation.   We recognise the importance of children, educators, families and the wider community learning about the true histories and cultures of the First Peoples of Australia, to form a society that respects the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoplesand cultures, celebrates relationships, unity and connectedness to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples perspectives are firmly and respectfully included in all areas of the curriculum.   This Reconciliation Action Plan is an ongoing commitment to cultivating and embedding respect for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, languages, and histories and to establishing culturally appropriate practices at our Kindergarten and in the wider community.
