Avoca Beach Preschool aims to respect and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' rich histories and cultures. We acknowledge the important and responsible practice of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives within our Early learning service. We see ourselves as important facilitators to use our pedagogical, inclusive practices to ensure children have an understanding of and respect for Australia’s First Nations' peoples,. Children are the future custodians of history, and it is vitally important they have respect, authentic knowledge, and meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to carry forward knowledge, understanding and the embracing of Australia's rich history. A reconciled Australia is one of cultural acknowledgment and respect. A place in which we learn and cherish culture and move towards recognising past failings and understanding of historical events that have and continue to shape the perspective of past and present Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
