Here at Epping Little Sprouts, reconciliation means coming together to restore, amend and strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, the First Nations of this Land we are on. To Epping Little Sprouts a reconciled Australia looks like respecting, acknowledging, providing opportunities for success, building relationships, co-existing, having mutual respect, forgiveness, love, inclusiveness, healing, truth, and reparation. Its educating children and adults, of the true history to help restore justice, inequalities and inequities and build positive race relations with the First Nations peoples . Acknowledging Country on days that aren’t just marked as significant on a Calendar. It is a place where First Nations staff, children and families canexpress their culture with pride and without fear. We understand the importance of educators’ knowledge and confidence in understanding what appropriate to teach children. We know involvement from families and communities to help inform our practice when including First Nations peoples' cultures, histories and contributions is integral to an authentic reconciliation journey. Our Sphere or influence is the community, families, children and the people around us in general! Engaging with the community not just for us educators but to help build a better understanding of the true histories of Australia is important for us to support the children’s learning, as they are our future.
