At Peregian Springs Community Kindergarten, we envision a future where reconciliation is lived through respectful relationships, genuine partnerships, and a deep connection to Country. We are committed to creating a culturally safe and inclusive environment where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures, knowledges, and perspectives are valued, respected, and meaningfully embedded in our everyday practices. Guided by the principles of listening, learning, and truth-telling, we seek to build authentic relationships with First Nations peoples and our local community. Through collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, we support children, families, and educators to develop an understanding of the continuing connection of First Nations peoples to Country, culture, and community. We believe that children are capable and active participants in reconciliation. Through inquiry, storytelling, connection with nature, and shared experiences, we foster curiosity, respect, and a sense of responsibility towards caring for Country and one another. Together, we strive to nurture a community where diversity is celebrated, First Nations voices are honoured, and reconciliation is embraced as an ongoing journey of learning, understanding, and action.
