Happy Hearts Avalon's vision for reconciliation is to actively recognise, respect and value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories and aspirations. By focusing on equality and equity, we are committed to improving opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We will continue to ensure that all of our staff, children and families have opportunities and the knowledge to contribute to fostering a learning community that takes meaningful action towards reconciliation. This will be done through ensuring the wellbeing and safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, and all children are supported through respectful and trusting relationships. We will additionally continue to strengthen and maintain relationships with First Nations members of the community through First Nations-led initiatives, educational classes, and cultural experiences for staff and students alike. We continue to actively seek opportunities for ongoing critical reflection and learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and perspectives. This, in turn, will enable educators to confidently include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in pedagogy and programs, providing everyone across our learning community with a safe space to engage with diverse First Nation's peoples, cultures, perspectives and histories.
