Here at Goodstart Prospect Vale we recognise and respect Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations Peoples of Australia and as the Custodians of the Land on which we all live and work. Our vision for reconciliation is to maintain an inclusive and culturally responsive society that offers the right for everyone to learn, especially Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We continue to lay the foundations to grow present and future generations that value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s cultures, histories and heritages as a proud part of a shared Australian identity. We acknowledge the continuing trauma endured by the First Nations of Australia, especially here in Tasmania and work towards healing by seeking justice for past and present wrongs. We are committed to fostering an inviting, safe and supportive community where all people are heard, respected and recognised as having the right to equal and equitable outcomes and opportunities. We acknowledge the link that we have with the ancient history of Tasmania through the Land from which our early learning environment has been created.
We respect and value the cultural insights that we gain as we continue growing strong links between Goodstart Prospect Vale, the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the children, families, and the wider community. We seek opportunities to engage with and learn about the continuing cultures of First Nations Peoples; their languages, their rich traditions of storytelling and the deep attachment evident in their care and knowledge of Country.
We are inspired to create a community that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social justice, equality and equity as we strive to improve high quality, culturally safe early learning experiences for all children.
