Community Kids Montebello are committed to reconciling and maintaining respectful and genuine relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous people.
Our vision to arrive at the destination of reconciliation, will be fostered by creating a culture of acknowledgment, understanding, compassion and awareness of the past hurt of Australia's First People. In doing this, we wwill bridge the gap of equity and equality through respectfully embedding the knowledge, history, cultures, perspectives and traditions of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander community into our curriculum.
We admire Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples connections to lands, waters, animals and spirits, and recognise we have much to learn from their extensive experience and knowledge.
We are dedicated to being an inclusive community, that is respectful to diversity and is culturally responsive. We aim to do this by building strong relationships within the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and Elders, by seeking their guidance and working in collaboration. By working together, we aim to create meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange and healing. We are committed to educating future generations (children in our care), of the importance of respectful partnerships with the people that were firsthere on this Country and came before us and we walk now with First Nations peoples.
Moving forward, we strive to create an environment at Community Kids Montebello that embraces diversity and promotes reconciliation by celebrating the Boandik people.
