Magnetic Island Kindergarten's vision for reconciliation is to continue growing a culturally safe environment that acknowledges our diverse community and is inclusive. Advocating for a country that embraces unity between non-indigenous Australians and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, historical acceptance of our shared history, a culture representing equality and equity, and the removal of hostile race relations. We will promote a culturally safe service for children, families, educators, and the community that is welcoming. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and all children build and grow a sense of personal pride through celebrating their cultures in our service. Magnetic Island Kindergarten recognises that we are on Walgurukaba and Bindal Land and we are committed to reconciliation through building and encouraging respectful and genuine relationships within our environment and the First Nations community, by cultivating and embedding respect.
We actively acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as our nation’s First Peoples, as well as celebrating their contributions and continuing importance to society today.
We are committed to making reconciliation an ongoing process; continually reflecting on and transforming our curriculum and practice to ensure that we are respectfully valuing, reflecting, and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, cultures, and histories in learning.
