Our team, here at Community Kids Glenella, are endeavoring to continue to bring the reconciliation process to the younger generation in our care and their families. We wish to teach our families about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our region, and teach about the shared journey of reconciliation between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our aim is to inspire and teach all people to contribute to breaking down stereotypes and discrimination amongst all cultures.
At our service we are on a journey to respectfully embed practices that incorporate reconciliation into our curriculums. To help support these practices and other cultural experiences in the centre we will build relationships with the local First Nations community and will work with ourCultural Officer who guides, encourages and supports educators in ensuring that we are offering engaging cultural experiences that include and where appropriate, sharing knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
As dedicated Educators, we are educating ourselves to increase our knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and ways of knowing and being, so we feel confident in respectfully passing information onto our children and families about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
