We, at Archer Street Child Care Centre, believe reconciliation is an ongoing journey, based on respectful, reciprocal and collaborative relationships between the service, including children, educators, families, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community. Weare committed to continuing to actively engaging in important community events, such as NAIDOC Week. We will continue to deepen our understanding of reconciliation and continuous learning through professional development by deepening our understanding of cultural responsiveness and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures and perspectives to ensure practices remain informed, respectful and responsive. We feel reconciliation allows us to meaningfully learn from the Traditional Custodians, the Darumbal people, about how to create a service that embraces inclusion, respect, diversity and an understanding of the connections they have with the Land on which our service is located . We will continue to engage in honest conversations, understand past injustices, and the importance of creating a future where all children grow up with a deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples Land, and the true histories of this place. . We will continue our journey towards reconciliation by including respectful and authentic resources developed by First Nations people in our daily routines and programs.. We will continue to provide equal and equitable education opportunities for all children and ensure First Nations perspectives are included across all teaching and learning experiences and further develop our understanding of sustainable practices to care for Country. We will continue to meaningfully collaborate with Darumbal individuals and First Nations community members within our service and the local community to share our reconciliation journey.. As we progress our reconciliation journey we will ensure there are opportunities for educators, children, families and the community to engage and deepen learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives, to create a harmonious and understanding environment where everyone can peacefully co-exist, cultivates strong relationships and promotes a culture of understanding among children, families and educators. As a service we will continue to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pedagogy as part of our daily program and practice, and will ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices are heard and included in decision making.
