At Goodstart Jones Hill, we recognise and respect the First Nations peoples of Australia and acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi/Kabi Kabi peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and play.
We believe that cultural responsiveness is developed on both a personal and professional level and is about building a shared understanding to provide culturally responsive programs and environments for First Nations students. We are on a journey to increase authentic participation, equality and equity. Through this we are laying the foundations to grow future generations that value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity. Our educators encourage children to be respectful and care for Country, as well as each other. We share with our families as well as our community why embedding these practices of building knowledge of and respect for First Nations peoples and cultures are such an important element to their child's ongoing learning journey, and to the wider journey of reconciliation.
