At Bella Grace Early Learning Centre Aroona, we believe that reconciliation acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Peoples of Australia. Our vision is to see reconciled Australia, which involves understanding, respect and hope. We aim to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledges, in our everyday practices and curriculum. We recognise that by respectfully teaching young children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories we can support ongoing learning from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our community about, their stories, artefacts, languages, art, dance and music. We recognise this can only happen of establishing and maintaining respectful relationships with our local community members. We will to walk alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to create culturally safe environments by embracing and sharing our reconciliation journey, which is built on respect , knowledge, empathy and hope for a brighter future for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander educators, families, children and community.
