At Children's Choice Early Education Centre, we strongly believe that reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians should be a shared responsibility lead by non-Indigenous Australians in collaboration and relationships with First Nations people. Our vision for reconciliation is, where everyone walks together in unity, with positive attitudes and respect towards recognising and acknowledging the valuable histories and cultural perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Our Reconciliation Action Plan outlines our commitment to working towards developing a culturally responsive, competent and inclusive working and learning environment that acknowledges, promotes acceptance of our diverse and unique cultures. This will be done by working collaboratively with all children, staff, families and the wider Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the planning and review of the RAP, as we work towards building a reflective culture of engagement among all of us, to assist us in achieving equal and equitable high quality outcomes, enhancing our commitment to reconciliation within our educational setting. To support the development of our Reconciliaton Action Plan, we aim to provide opportunities to enhance our educators' knowledge and awareness in understanding how to create meaningful experiences that will promote knowledge and familiarity to children of various age groups about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' cultures within our programs, events and celebrations. We will also be looking at building meaningful and strong relationships with the Jagera, Yuggera and Ugarapul people merging them for harmonious future generations.
