Papilio Early Learning at Currumbin Waters recognises Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members as vital components of our journey towards reconciliation. As such, aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members views and opinions will always be sought and respected throughout our reconciliation journey.
Reconciliation is important to staff at Papilio Currumbin Waters as it provides educators with opportunities to respectfully extend on their own knowledge and understanding of the local Bundjalung culture, histories and language while respectfully sharing these understandings with the children they teach. By embedding culturally respectful practices into the daily routines and ongoing programs across the rooms, educators are further promoting reconciliation.
These embedded practices and experiences will be continuously reflected on and reviewed to ensure they are respectful and authentic. Wherever possible, such reflective and review processes will also be carried out in partnership with members of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Papilio Currumbin Waters is excited to continue to promote and work towards reconciliation. We will continue to work with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community to develop respectful and collaborative relationships to benefit all involved.
