To Willow Early Learning Centre Mudgeeraba, Reconciliation means Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and Non- Indigenous people walking together in harmony and peace where they can reflect on the past and find a way forward where there is equality, equity, respect, celebration and acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and their ways of knowing and being.
We understand as non-Indigenous Australians that we must learn about and accept the history and injustices endured by the Traditional Land Owners, then commit to not repeat those same atrocities and instead embrace their histories, cultures and perspectives as a part of our Australian culture.
Our vision for reconciliation is to respectfully embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander perspectives into everyday situations and daily routines, its about families, educators and the community making a commitment to work together to create a new future where early childhood is a culturally safe and inclusive environment for all educators, families, visitors and children of different cultures.
At Willow ELC Mudgeeraba, we are committing to reconciliation by acknowledging the importance of Country, understanding what is culturally safe, learning from local Elders/Custodians as they share their stories, traditions and knowledge and creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous Australian families and children.
