At Young Adventurers, we are proud that our service is on the Lands of the Kombumerri people and acknowledge all of Australia's First Nations peoples, their Ancestors and Elders, as the Traditional Owners of the Lands throughout Australia. Young Adventurers is committed to developing mutually respectful relationships with First Nations peoples and learning about their histories and cultures through the practice of equality, equity, inclusiveness and acceptance. Our vision for reconciliation seeks to: *Build connections with the Kombumerri people as well as other First Nations peoples in our community. We acknowledge our shared histories and the importance of building respectful, trusting relationships as we commit to walking together.. We are creating and celebrating a community where the contributions of all members, Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous peoples, are recognised and valued. *Deepen our understanding of Australia's First Nations peoples and their unique place in history. We acknowledge that the historical learning of the majority of Australian adults was partisan and incomplete and seek to provide current and future generations with a true and accurate representation of Australian history. A connection with First Nations peoples’ cultures and heritages allows an understanding and acceptance of the dispossessions, persecution and oppression experienced by Traditional Owners since colonisation and the strength and resilience of their cultures in the face of this. *Celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of Australia's First Nations peoples past, present and emerging. We are committed to healing and righting past wrongs as we learn, grow and walk together in reconciliation, creating a strong and connected future for all children, families and community members of Young Adventurers.
