Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia that embraces unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians, and a national culture that represents equality and equity, historical acceptance of our shared history and removal of negative race relations. Reconciliation must live in the hearts, minds and actions of all Australians as we move forward, creating a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are committed to raising awareness about reconciliation, with the goal of encouraging all people in our community to embrace reconciliation and work towards reparation and healing for the Land’s First Peoples.

We will demonstrate this commitment through: gaining a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing and learning through consultation with local Elders; respectfully reflecting that knowledge at all levels of our service; creating an inclusive and diverse workplace that is culturally safe, rich and proud; improving access to our service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families and developing genuine, respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities to create a strong sense security and belonging for all in our community.

Our dedication mirrors our values of respect for diversity, inclusion, advocating the rights of children, justice, honesty and courage.  It is our goal that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, histories, languages and ways of knowing is acknowledged and embedded so respectfully and deeply in our community that it is authentically entrenched in our being, belonging and becoming.

We believe that we hold a crucial role in the community to foster understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, and challenge biases to positively impact  future attitudes towards reconciliation.
