Harty Street Kindergarten is located on the Traditional Lands of the Turrbal and Jagera peoples. We acknowledge and respect their enduring connection to Country, culture, and community and pay respect to Elders past, present, and emerging.
At Harty Street Kindergarten, we are committed to fostering nurturing, and educating ourselves, children and families within a holistic, inclusive, safe, and respectful environment where everyone across our kindergarten and pre-school community feels value has a strong sense of belonging.
We recognise the importance of building and sustaining meaningful relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. These relationships will continue to guide and strengthen our commitment to reconciliation, and will inform how we value the knowledges, perspectives, and voices of First Nations peoples as partners in this journey.
Through play-based learning and everyday experiences, educators, and everyone across our service, will continue to deepen respect and understanding of the true histories, diverse cultures, and ongoing contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. First Nations perspectives are authentically and intentionally embedded within our learning environments, routines, and programs across both units.
As reflective practitioners, we continually review and strengthen these practices to ensure they remain meaningful, respectful, and informed in collaboration with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
Together, we are committed to building and maintaining respectful relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and everyone across our kindergarten and wider community to deepen understanding and work collaboratively towards reconciliation, supporting children to grow as respectful, inclusive, and socially aware citizens.
