At Avenues Early Learning Centre Jindalee, we believe a shared journey is vital to the ongoing reconciliation processes and the wellbeing of our whole community. As a team, we are committed to taking braver and bolder steps towards reconciliation with our Reconciliation Action Plan, taking collective action that will benefit the centre and our community.
Reconciliation, to us, means building a better future that is inclusive and culturally responsive, creating a safe space for all, and ensure all Australians have an active understanding of the importance of healing the relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non- Indigenous people.
As we work towards and teach about reconciliation with the younger generations, we believe it will promote respect in our children, educators and families, ensuring the future is inclusive and everyone has the right to equal and equitable opportunities.
Moving forward, we must continually develop our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures, and the broader Australian community’s relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Doing so will support our early learning centre to achieve positive self-identity and growth, and we will ensure our organisation practices reconciliation through our policies, processes and actions.
As we move forward to becoming a more inclusive society, we will work together with our community to celebrate the uniqueness and diversity, through local connections to Elders and the Yuggera and Turrbal communities.
