Everton Park Kindergarten is located on Turrbal Land. Our vision for reconciliation is to actively acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Nations Peoples of Australia and acknowledge their cultures, histories, contributions and continuing importance to society.
We aim to foster a culture of respect, equity, equality, and historical understanding within our kindergarten community, recognising our shared history and the importance of positive relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We believe reconciliation should be reflected in the hearts, minds, and actions of the Everton Park Kindergarten community.
At Everton Park Kindergarten we believe that children are competent and capable, and able to develop an understanding of reconciliation. By raising awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples 'histories and cultures, we aim to nurture respect, curiosity and a strong sense of belonging for all.
We are committed to building meaningful and authentic connections with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, including past, present and future families of Everton Park Kindergarten. As educators, we will continue to deepen our own understanding and share this learning with children and families. Through ongoing reflection and learning, we aim to embed reconciliation in our everyday practice and respectfully value and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and heritage.
