Red Hill Preschool recognises the importance of the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Acknowledging this importance is vital for reconciliation as a way forward in our shared National story and identity. Red Hill preschool aims to meaningfully include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives, experiences, cultures and ways of doing into the curriculum daily. Our philosophy of learning on and respecting Country and respectful inclusion of, with permission from Traditional Custodians, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories, songs, knowledge and languages. This creates shared and reciprocal learning experiences for our children, families and the wider community. The preschool actively encourages our teaching team to increase their knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and cultures and to seek permission and guidance from the Bunurong people as we develop future curriculum.
