Our vision is to be the driver in our community that actively demonstrates respect and acknowledgement of First Nations people’s cultures, histories and perspectives in our service and surroundings. We are committed to continuing to build friendships in the greater community, be a culturally safe space and be a key instigator of reconciliation discussions with children, families, and the broader community.
We will ensure that Goodstart Mount Martha, Benton’s Road continues to actively value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ ways of knowing and learning: reflect on authentic pedagogies and practices in all areas of our service, and demonstrate cultural safety to all who visit and attend through genuine and respectful interactions and environments. We are committed to paying respects to the local Boon Wurrung community and diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples programs. We will foster shared opportunities to engage in important events and connect to Country. Together with Elders and community leaders, we will ensure children and staff respectfully engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, organisations and learning experiences. We advocate for the importance of actively listening to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives.
We know it will not take a day, a week, or a month to fully enact change; we respect this is an ongoing journey and we strive to continually reflect, act and move forward towards reconciliation.
