Bittern Pre-school has a vision for reconciliation and unity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, and other Australians, and a culture that embraces equality and equity. To reach true reconciliation, Bittern Pre-school believes that past injustices against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples must be acknowledged. Reconciliation needs to be within the hearts, minds, and actions of all Australians to work together to build healthy, inclusive, and sustainable communities by providing accessible and culturally safe services for all.
Bittern Pre-school is committed to respectfully embracing and incorporating First Nations Peoples perspectives and cultures within our teaching and embedding them in our programs. At Bittern Pre-School we provide children with a range of learning experiences that respectfully engage the children with First Nations Peoples perspectives and cultures. We encourage connectedness to First Nations People within our service and broader community, maintaining positive relationships and links to the Boon Wurrung People throughout the services curriculum and daily routines. This can be seen with our continued connection with a local organisation, learning from and with Traditional Custodians of the Land we at Bittern Pre-School are on.
Bittern Pre-School strives to continuously increase our knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples' perspectives, histories and cultures; so that we can respectfully and authentically embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples' perspectives, cultures, histories, and knowledge into our learning environment and experiences. We continue to learn to improve our daily practices.
For true reconciliation to be achieved, it starts with all of us. We continue to learn and connect with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to obtain a better understanding to provide an honest and equitable education for the children at our kindergarten.
