VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At First Grammar Gumnut Drive, we are committed to reconciliation through strong relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people, ongoing learning, and purposeful action. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Nations peoples of Australia and pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We honour their enduring connections to Country, culture, community, and the valuable knowledge and wisdom that continues to enrich our nation.   We recognise the importance of truth-telling and developing a deeper understanding of Australias shared histories, including the lasting impacts of colonisation and the injustices experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We believe reconciliation asks all of us to listen, learn, reflect, and actively create environments built on respect, fairness, and inclusion.   At First Grammar Gumnut Drive, we believe early childhood education plays an important role in shaping a more inclusive future. Through play-based learning, meaningful relationships, and intentional teaching, we support children to develop kindness, empathy, respect, and an appreciation for the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures. We are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples cultures, perspectives, and ways of knowing into our everyday program in authentic, thoughtful, and respectful ways.   We are dedicated to building genuine connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and creating culturally safe spaces where children, families, educators, and community members feel welcomed, valued, and heard. As a learning community, we will continue to grow our understanding, challenge bias, and reflect on how we can contribute to positive change on the reconciliation journey.   We understand reconciliation is an ongoing journey that requires commitment, humility, and action over time. Together, we will continue to learn, listen, and walk forward with respect as we work towards a more just, equitable, and united future for all.
