VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Here at Goodstart Early Learning Drouin, our vision is to demonstrate inclusive practices which, to us, means that we treat all children equally and equitably, and give all children equal and equitable opportunities.

Based on conversations with families and educators, our centre-based vision for reconciliation is for Goodstart Drouin to engage with reconciliation on both a personal and professional level, creating the conditions that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander social justice, equality and equity. Through this vision, we are laying the foundations to grow future generations that actively value and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures and heritages as a proud part of a shared identity. We acknowledge the links that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have with the ancient histories of Australia through the Lands from which our early learning environments have been created and we also acknowledge the continuing cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to building partnerships based on trust, respect; we recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures as enduring, living cultures; and we respect and value the cultural insights of First Nations peoples as we continue to establish strong links between our service and the children, families and communities with whom we work. On a foundation of equity, equality, integrity and respect, we will create high quality early learning experiences for our children. We commit to reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other Australians and support equality and equity in education and employment.
