VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Goodstart Early Learning, Numurkah believe that as a nation First Nations children should be able to benefit from all educational and learning opportunities like any other child. We truly value each First Nations person as the First Peoples of Australia through a deep respect and understanding of their heritage, knowledge, languages, wisdom and customs. As Australians actively working towards reconciliation, we embrace unity between First Nations peoples and other Australians by promoting true equality and equity, historical acceptance of our own shared history and the removal of all discrimination and negative race relations. As a centre, we also believe that reconciliation is about relationships, respect and trust. Through reconciliation we strengthen the relationships between the wider Australian community and First Nations peoples for the benefit of all Australians. Our reconciliation plan is a formal statement of commitment to reconciliation underpinned by three key themes of, Relationships, Respect and importantly, First Nations people's self-determination and empowerment. By making this commitment Goodstart Early Learning, Numurkah strives to: Enrich the lives of all our staff, our children, their families, our volunteers and the wider community through a deeper understanding and connection to First Nations peoples, whilst also providing opportunities for First Nations peoples to have input and contribute into our programs. We will endeavour to build respectful relationships with First Nations staff, community and Elders to the benefit of all. Goodstart Early Learning Numurkah strives to genuinely be a wholly inclusive centre which appreciates and respects all groups and cultures, whilst incorporating learning and activities for children to grow in their knowledge of diversity and inclusivity. We recognise and acknowledge the Yorta Yorta People as an enduring living culture, with deep connections to their land. We recognise the hurt and healing which needs to occur.
