Our vision for reconciliation at Goodstart Bendigo is that we believe it is vital for First Nations children, and all children, to discover who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas, as well as to develop an active appreciation of diverse identities, cultures and perspectives. We know that all children deserve the opportunity to explore, develop and expand on their learning experiences, including learning about diverse First Nations histories, cultures and contributions. We will continue to provide open ended experiences along with intentional teaching moments to encourage children to learn about Australia’s First Peoples and about the Land that our service is situated on, the Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung Peoples. We are committed to positively challenging staff, families’ and the children’s perceptions while enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the local Dja Dja Wurrung and Taungurung People and their cultures, histories and continued connection to their Country.
