VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Community Kids Sunbury, our vision for reconciliation is a service that values unity and strengthens our future through respect, understanding, and meaningful engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, histories, and perspectives.

We believe reconciliation must live within the hearts, minds, and actions of all Australians as we move forward together, creating a nation enriched by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are committed to creating a service culture based on inclusion and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.   By acknowledging and learning from our shared histories, we strive to build meaningful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the local community, ensuring there are opportunities for children, educators and families to deepen their understanding of reconciliation and contribute to positive and lasting change within our community.

For us, reconciliation means creating an environment where diverse Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and perspectives are valued, and diverse First Nations cultural identities are respected, ensuring that their voices are heard. We commit to providing culturally safe, responsive, and respectful learning environments and experiences for all children, families, and team members.

We envision a service where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and educators, and everyone across our learning community, feel a strong sense of belonging, are supported in their identity, and are empowered to contribute to a united, respectful, and reconciled Australia.
