VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

At Goodstart Early Learning West Melton, our vision for reconciliation reflects our commitment to providing high-quality care and education in a welcoming, inclusive environment where the health, safety and well-being of our community is a priority.  We value working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, families, community, recognising that families are the experts in their childrens lives. We are committed to strengthening respectful relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and deepening our understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of knowing, being and doing.

We embrace cultural diversity as a gift, and we will continue to be intentional, meaningful and respectful in embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our rich and engaging educational programs. Through our interest-based approach, we watch, listen, and respond to children, supporting confidence, respect, independence, and strong social connections in order to ensure reconciliation lives in the hearts and minds of all children, and everyone across our learning community.

As educators committed to ongoing reflective practice and professional learning, we will continue to foster learning environments and relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and our wider community to promote equality, equity and historical acceptance. Guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander self-determination and the themes of relationships, respect and opportunities, our Reconciliation Action Plan strengthens our shared responsibility to create positive outcomes for all children and contribute to a reconciled Australia.

This year, we are intentionally focusing on strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community by creating meaningful opportunities to welcome community members into our centre. Through partnerships, listening and learning, we will continue to deepen our understanding of reconciliation by providing authentic opportunities to strengthen relationships between children, families and educators and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
