Our vision for reconciliation is that WCC Children’s and Family Services embrace the healing process of reconciliation, in collaboration with the people of the Marr Nation to form a sense of unity, respect and belonging. We aim to ensure that:
All children, families, staff and community members respectfully learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. All families feel culturally safe in our services. We are promoting knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories occurs at all levels of education and of our service operation A process of healing involving recognition of past injustices occurs. We foster genuine respectful ongoing relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous people. Everyone is empowered to have a voice and contribute to decision making with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders people perspectives and aspirations actively listened to There are equal and equitable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people from our local community are engaged within our services on a regular and ongoing basis.
