Goodstart Torquay

VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

As not only an Early Learning Service but a community within Torquay we look to be leaders in the understanding of reconciliation and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our area.

We hope to start teaching ALL children that we have in our care about the histories and cultures of the Traditional Owners of the Land and to help children begin to recognise the true meaning of reconciliation; to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

Reconciliation to us means creating an atmosphere within our centre that is welcoming for all people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous alike, to be themselves and to share their customs and cultures with all. Whether they are a staff member, child, family or visitor, we want everyone to feel equal within our community.
