Our vision for reconciliation aligns with our mission statement to “engage a community of learners. Our symbiotic practices nurture a deep sense of belonging to people and place.” To achieve this, Seaford Kindergarten values the diverse cultures of First Peoples of Australia and is committed to continuous learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contributions.
We believe that our ‘community of learners’, including families and their children, are key participants in the reconciliation journey and are able to create change through shared knowledge and action. For our Kindergarten community, creating a sense of ‘belonging to people and place’ centers on active acknowledgment of the Bunurong People as the First Peoples and Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we learn and developing connections with and deepening our knowledge of First Nations peoples.
