We at Hampton Community Kindergarten acknowldge the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land and will actively respect First Nations peoples and their connections to the lands, waters, the animals and the community we learn and play on.
Our vision is to create an inclusive and safe learning environment for all children, as early childhood educators we recognise the significant role we play in the reconcialtion journey for each child attending our centre. We will work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, children, and members of our wider community to reduce prejudice which we will do through our pedagogy and practice, providing meaningful learning exeperiences and environments that streghten knowledge and understanding and foster a community that celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and cultures.
We seek to ensure that our reconciliation journey is meaningful and through truth telling we acknowldge the trauma which first nations people have endured as a result of colonisation. These stories will be shared with children, families and educators alongside the ongoing strength, resilience and self determination Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people continue to show in the face of adversity.
