At CSIROCare we believe that all educators, staff and management are in a privileged position where they can encourage, support and teach about reconciliation with young children, families and the wider community. Reconciliation in action is about the present, it encompasses acknowledging the past and working towards an Australian culture that is equal and equitable. Educators consider conversations with children about friendship, fairness, telling the truth and sharing as a starting point to understanding key concepts of reconciliation. We encourage children to be proud of their culture and we will provide opportunities to build relationships between First Nations peoples and our centre community links We explore First Nations cultures through embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our day to day engagements. Through including respect in the social and emotional wellbeing of our children means we can better respond to children's individual needs and emphasise what respect for First Nations peoples and cultures looks like in context and in the broader community. Our focus will be to seek advice from Local Elders and community members as we ensure we are respectful to the Country where our service is located. It is important to reflect on our practices and we are committed to our reconciliation journey.
