VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

We, at Explorers Early Learning - Armadale, are committed to reconciliation. Our commitment includes increasing awareness and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their cultures. We acknowledge and respect the Traditional Owners of the Land, the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Peoples of the Kulin Nation, upon whose Land our centre is built.

We envision a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are recognised and valued as the First Nations peoples of Australia. We aspire to learn about their stories, wisdom, traditions, and cultures from the past and present. We aim to respectfully share this knowledge and these stories with our Explorers community.

We aim to achieve this through our inclusive educational programs, environments, curriculum, and daily interactions with the children, educators, and families. We will build reciprocal relationships with local First Nations communities and be open to new ideas and concepts and encourage critical reflection of our teaching practices.

We will also conduct research and intentionally seek answers to our questions to enhance our knowledge and understanding of First Nations peoples, cultures, and histories.

We will embrace all concepts and ideas related to reconciliation and the traditions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with respect, open hearts, and inclusive minds. A better understanding and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures foster an enriched appreciation of Australia's diverse cultural heritages and can lead to reconciliation.
