VISION FOR RECONCILIATION

Cooke Court Uniting (SEED) program acknowledge the Wurundjeri People as the Traditional Custodians of the Land on which we play and learn each day. We thank all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for their enduring care of Country and the knowledge and wisdom they hold. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging and recognise that Land was never ceded.

We commit to working towards reconciliation and to respectfully embedding First Nations cultures, knowledge, insights, historical and contemporary perspectives into our everyday ways of being and doing. We commit to moving forward in allyship with First Nations peoples and causes. We recognise that this is a process that requires time and thought, as we reach out to create respectful and reciprocal relationships with community members. We understand that our learning from First Nations Peoples involves deep listening.

What children learn in their early years they carry with them throughout their entire life journey. Children deserve to learn the truth and have much to gain from understanding the history of living in a country with the oldest living culture. We aim for children to learn from First Nations peoples about connection to Country; a place where they learn, play, grow and love.

The foundations of our work with children and families is driven by trauma informed relational pedagogy, we seek to inform our understanding of this work by learning form the wisdom, resilience, diversity and community values of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
