At Community Kids Chirnside Park, we are dedicated to promoting reconciliation and respectfully including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ perspectives into our curriculum. Our goal is to continue to raise awareness among our educators, children, and families, fostering a deeper understanding of the histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Through inclusive practices, we educate the children about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories and perspectives in a meaningful and respectful manner. Collaboration is key in this reconciliation process, and we strive to engage and strengthen connections with our local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
We are committed to providing ongoing cultural awareness training for our team, focusing on the cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We recognise that to embed these perspectives throughout our service, we must first educate ourselves to begin breaking down cultural barriers, creating an inclusive and culturally safe and rich environment for our children and their families.
